a5c7b9f00b Walt's obsession with Jacob leads to more tension with Cady. Vic testifies against Gilbert. Walt's anger erupts at the Red Pony. "Writers Psychosis" is what happens when a successful series reaches the point that the ratings start to drop. Rather than bite the bullet and go out gracefully (like Banshee did – great show!) the producers turn to the writers and essentially "unleash" them. The writers dutifully toss out whatever template worked up til that point, and try to find "hot buttons" to hook the viewer.

IT ALMOST NEVER WORKS.

Back when this was the "Walt Longmire Mysteries" with a new mystery every week, this was a wonderful and brilliant show.

Ironically in this episode Cassidy Freeman lectures Walt on his need for therapy because his obsession with one of the characters has made him a less effective lawman.

SHE SHOULD HAVE GIVEN THE LECTURE TO THE WRITERS.

There is no coming back from this sort of damage. Even if in the series' finale, it turns out that Walt was right, Nighthorse was a villain, in bed with the mob, killed JFK, flew a plane into the Twin Towers … it is too late. An entire season has been wasted and this series is nothing compared to what it once was.
